Proposals are being made that the Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute could be moved outside the city center, and a modern 5-star hotel could be built in the center of the capital.
The Tashkent city administration and the Ministry of Health are putting forward this initiative. This proposal was included in the draft Presidential Decree on the development of the night economy and was posted on the official website of the Strategic Reforms Agency.
According to the project, it is proposed to relocate the Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute to the territory of the innovative pharmaceutical park "Tashkent Pharma Park" located in the Tashkent region. The obligation has been established to build a modern parking lot for 1,000 cars on the vacated main land area, transfer it to state ownership, and build a 5-star hotel there.
The Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute was founded in 1937, and its main academic building is located in the center of the capital, near the "Oybek" metro station.
The innovative scientific and production area of the "Tashkent Pharma Park" pharmaceutical cluster is under the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry, which is located in the Zangiata district, near the infectious diseases hospital. This cluster and agency play an important role in the introduction of scientific and modern technologies in the pharmaceutical industry.
If the proposal is approved, it will be possible to effectively use old buildings in the center of the capital and increase the tourism potential of the hotel. At the same time, it will be possible to develop scientific and production clusters in the field of pharmaceuticals outside the city.
