A new issue was discussed in the student dormitory in Tashkent.

Problems related to student housing in Tashkent are being widely discussed on social networks. In order to clarify this issue, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation issued an official statement.

According to the Ministry, the process of accommodating students in dormitories is carried out in accordance with the administrative regulations approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 376 dated August 14, 2023. That is, the entire process is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the legislation and the official procedure.

Starting from the 2024/2025 academic year, dormitory accommodation for all students is fully online. Students can submit an application through Public Service Centers or the Single Portal of Interactive Public Services. As of September 12, 2025, a total of 63,804 applications were received, of which referrals were automatically generated for 40,265 students, and 21,767 students were on the waiting list.

The Ministry emphasized that the fact that applications are in the "process" indicates that the queue has been formed in accordance with the regulations, not a delay. Places will be allocated in stages, with priority given to students in need of social protection.

The procedure for reviewing applications is as follows: if there is a vacancy in the dormitory, the referral is generated automatically; if there is no vacancy, the student is placed in the queue and receives a notification about this; also, in case of vacancy, the next students are placed.

In addition, in accordance with Government Resolution No. 605 of September 24, 2021, for students not covered by dormitory accommodation and living on a rental basis, 50 percent of the rent is covered by the state budget. In the city of Tashkent, this amount is one basic calculated value (currently 412 thousand soums), and in other regions - half (206 thousand soums).

Therefore, the processes of accommodating students in dormitories and covering rental expenses are carried out in the manner and step-by-step manner established by law. This serves to preserve the legal and social guarantees of students and fully ensure their living conditions.
