On September 24, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with US Congressman Trent Kelly, Chairman of the Uzbekistan Cooperation Caucus in the House of Representatives, and Major General Bobby Gene, Commander of the Mississippi National Guard, in New York.
During the meeting, issues of further expanding Uzbek-American relations of strategic partnership, including strengthening inter-parliamentary dialogue, were considered.
The dynamic development of inter-parliamentary contacts and exchanges was noted with satisfaction. Members of the Senate and the House of Representatives of the Congress regularly visit Uzbekistan. The Cooperation Caucus with Uzbekistan is actively working, its composition is expanding. Uzbekistan Days, which serve to strengthen cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries, are held annually at the Congress.
Trade, economic, and cultural-humanitarian ties with the US state of Mississippi were highly appreciated.
The importance of the Congress's support for the further expansion of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the USA, the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, was emphasized.
Following the conversation, an agreement was reached on organizing a visit to Uzbekistan by a delegation of Congress and businessmen from the state of Mississippi.
