Shavkat Mirziyoyev called for cooperation for peace in Afghanistan

On October 10, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States, held in the capital of Tajikistan - Dushanbe. Within the framework of the meeting, issues of expanding practical cooperation and topical regional issues were discussed.

In his opening remarks, the head of state emphasized that, despite uncertain processes in global politics and the economy, the CIS organization maintains its stability and effectiveness. In his opinion, in this period, when the influence of international institutions is declining, the Commonwealth continues to occupy a special place in the world political arena.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also separately addressed the issues of ensuring security and stability in the region. The President emphasized the need to consistently continue close cooperation between foreign affairs agencies and special services, noting the importance of systematic dialogue in this regard.

The head of state also mentioned the situation in Afghanistan and noted the need to pay attention to the situation in this country for regional stability.

- I want to emphasize that Uzbekistan stands firmly for ensuring long-term peace, tranquility, and sustainable development in Afghanistan. In this regard, we propose to consider the possibility of joint participation in the implementation of large investment and infrastructure projects in this country," Mirziyoyev said.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed support for Sergey Lebedev's continued position as Secretary General of the CIS and congratulated Turkmen leader Serdar Berdimuhamedov on assuming the chairmanship of the organization.

The heads of delegations of the Commonwealth member states also spoke at the Dushanbe summit. At the conclusion of the meeting, a number of agreements and important decisions were signed on priority areas of cooperation within the CIS.

The summit, in turn, became an important step towards further strengthening ties between the states of the region in the political, economic, and security spheres.
