In Uzbekistan, work continues to support low-income segments of the population within the framework of the social protection system. According to the State Tax Service, in January-September of this year, more than 275,000 families received a total of 81.8 billion soums in social cashback.
This system has been implemented since May 1, 2023, and individuals included in the "Unified Register of Social Protection" have the opportunity to receive a refund of 12% of value-added tax (VAT) instead of a simple 1% cashback for certain goods purchased through checks.
According to the tax authorities, this measure will not only ease the economic burden on families, but also increase the volume of official trade turnover.
The regions with the highest VAT refund rates are:
- Samarkand region - 22.9 billion soums,
- Tashkent city - 16.2 billion soums,
- Tashkent region - 7 billion soums.
Officials emphasized that the social cashback program plays an important role in expanding the financial capabilities of the population, balancing the budget in the face of unforeseen expenses, and stimulating official economic activity.
As a reminder, it was previously reported that a total of more than 1 trillion soums in cashback had been paid to consumers during 2024. This is a practical result of the state's reforms aimed at increasing the real incomes of citizens and activating the domestic market.
