An attempt to smuggle ancient coins was stopped at Termez airport
According to the Surkhandarya regional customs department's information service, an attempt to illegally take ancient coins out of the country was prevented. Customs officers at the border customs post of Termez city airport conducted an additional hand luggage inspection on a citizen who was about to fly abroad.

During the inspection, it was found that the person had five ancient metal coins decorated with Arabic inscriptions. It was noted that the citizen had not informed customs officers about these coins and tried to conceal them from inspection.

According to expert examination, these coins date back to the 16th century and bear religious texts and names of rulers in Arabic script. The coins have been recognized as cultural assets.

Currently, these physical pieces of evidence have been handed over to the Termez Archaeological Museum, and customs authorities are conducting a preliminary investigation into the case.
