In Uzbekistan, overtime is paid double

An important innovation in the labor sphere is that now employees working overtime in Uzbekistan will be paid up to double. According to Law No. 1095, adopted on November 11, it is mandatory to pay at least 1.5 times the salary for the first two hours of overtime work, and at least 2 times the salary for work exceeding 2 hours.

The law aims to adapt labor relations to modern requirements, strengthen the rights of employees, and increase citizens' motivation for work. The document also reflects changes to expand the activities of private employment agencies and clearly define the powers of the Migration Agency.

Now private employment agencies can organize vocational and foreign language training courses for job seekers and involve foreign employers in this process. They also received the right to independently manage interest income from deposited funds.

Another important amendment to the law is the abolition of the annual limit on overtime work. Previously, such labor was not allowed to exceed 120 hours per year, but now this requirement has been removed.

This change in the Labor Code is expected to make the relationship between the employer and the employee more open, transparent, and fair.

As a reminder, another recently adopted law also guaranteed Uzbek citizens the right to officially strike for the first time.
