Polluted air will remain until December

In major cities of Uzbekistan, the air quality may not improve for several more days due to natural factors. According to the updated data from “Uzgidromet”, because the inversion process is extending, the level of pollution will remain almost unchanged until the end of November.

Experts state that temperature inversion, lack of precipitation, and drought are the main causes of the current air issues. Since the air layers do not mix, dangerous fine particles such as PM2.5 accumulate in the atmosphere. On November 23, the PM2.5 level in Tashkent was recorded as three times higher than the norm.

The agency reported that this situation is seasonal and may ease only after strong winds, the change of air masses, or precipitation. In the coming days, air quality may change sharply even within a short period and may reach dangerous levels at certain hours.

Authorities urged the public to follow precautionary measures: stay outdoors less whenever possible, limit outdoor activities, and wear a mask when going outside.
