Two Uzbekistan Airways passenger flights bound for Urgench were unable to land at their destination and were diverted to Bukhara as an alternate airport. The reason was adverse weather conditions at Urgench Airport. This was reported by podrobno.uz.reports.
The flights in question are HY9616 on the Moscow (VKO) – Urgench (UGC) route and HY9638 on the Saint Petersburg (LED) – Urgench (UGC) route. Both flights were operated with Airbus A320-251NEO aircraft.
According to the Telegram channel “Tashkent Sky News,” the crews decided to land at Bukhara International Airport to ensure flight safety. It is said that extremely cold fog was observed in Urgench and visibility dropped to as low as 100 meters.
