In Uzbekistan, a presidential decree has been adopted aimed at increasing rail passenger transportation on domestic routes by 2030. The document предусматривает a significant expansion of traffic volumes on internal routes and the development of the electric train network. This was reported by podrobno.uz.reports.
According to the plan, by 2030 the annual number of passengers carried on local rail routes will increase from 10.5 million to 23.5 million. The number of routes where electric train services will be introduced will also rise from 40 to 53.
The decision sets priority tasks for developing passenger transportation for the Ministry of Transport and JSC “Oʻzbekiston temir yoʻllari”. In particular, starting in 2026, high-speed electric trains are planned to operate on the “Tashkent – Urgench – Khiva” route along the 465-km electrified “Bukhara – Khiva” line.
It is also planned to complete the electrification of the 196-km “Miskin – Nukus” section by the end of 2026. After that, high-speed electric train services will also be organized on this route.
Modernization of the “Angren – Pop” and “Toshgʻuzar – Boysun – Kumqoʻrgʻon” railway sections is also in special focus. As a result of these works, by 2030 it is planned to launch fast electric train services in Andijan, Namangan, Fergana and Surkhandarya regions.
We remind you that ahead of the New Year, additional trips of the “Afrosiyob” high-speed train are also expected to be introduced on popular routes.
