Javohir Sindorov recognized as Uzbekistan’s best chess player of the year

On January 10, the Uzbekistan Chess Federation held a press conference dedicated to the results of 2025 and plans for 2026. Important initiatives for the development of chess were announced, and the best athletes and specialists of the year were awarded.
The 2025 FIDE World Cup winner Javohir Sindorov was recognized as the “Best Chess Player of the Year.” Among women, the best chess player of the year was recognized as Umida Omonova, a member of the Uzbekistan national team.
Winners in youth and special categories were also determined: under 12 — Nurmuhammad Nematillakhonov and Khusnora Khusniddinova; under 20 — Afruza Hamdamova and Muhiddin Madaminov; in para chess — Marsel Shoyusupov and Selbi Kakisheva.
Honorary chess player Uktam Sheraliev, best referee Komiljon Azizov, analyst Ulugbek Tillaev, and commentator Anton Kim were also specially recognized. These achievements are important for the prestige and future of chess in Uzbekistan.
