Tensions in the Middle East: Uzbekistan returns its citizens to their homeland

The escalation of the political and military situation in the Middle East has become a serious test for world aviation. Due to the closure of airspace by a number of countries in the region, thousands of our compatriots were left abroad. On the direct instruction of the head of our state, a large-scale operation to return them to their homeland has begun. Zamin.uz provides details of the situation and important information for citizens.

Currently, the skies of more than ten countries, such as Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, Iran, Israel, and the UAE, have been declared dangerous for flights and closed for various periods. This completely disrupted the schedule of international flights.

How serious is the situation?

As a result of the cancellation of flights to Dubai, Sharjah, Jeddah, and Tel Aviv from February 28, 1,681 Uzbek citizens were unable to return home in the first few days.

Under state control: 24/7 headquarters

On the instructions of the President, a special headquarters was created under the Ministry of Transport and the Uzaviation Agency. Specialists are conducting round-the-clock negotiations with foreign aviation agencies and taking measures to transport our citizens through safe corridors.

Results achieved to date:

  • Medina and Jeddah: 21 special flights were organized, and 4,948 passengers were repatriated.
  • Dubai: 235 more of our compatriots arrived safely in Uzbekistan.
  • The process is ongoing, and additional flights are planned to transport the remaining passengers.

Important warning: Beware of scammers!

Dear citizens and relatives of passengers! Take advantage of this situation and don't trust suspicious intermediaries who promise you a "fast ticket." Rely only on information from the official representative offices and websites of airlines.

Call Center of the Agency "Uzaviatsiya" (24/7):

  • +998 (78) 120-00-72
  • +998 (71) 200-07-65

The government of Uzbekistan is proving in practice that it is responsible for the safety of every citizen. If you or your loved ones are experiencing problems with flights, please contact the above numbers immediately.

Are there any of your relatives who are also waiting to return from the Middle East? How do you assess these measures taken by the state?
