A cold anticyclone is entering Uzbekistan from today

Today, on March 7, a cold anticyclone is entering the territory of Uzbekistan. This was reported by Uzhydromet.

It is reported that due to the arrival of cold air masses, deterioration of atmospheric air quality is expected. Because of weak air circulation and the possible formation of temperature inversion, pollutants may accumulate in the near-surface layer of the atmosphere.

At present, meteorological conditions are being observed in the region that lead to the formation of temperature inversion. This is related to a sharp temperature difference: 5–7 degrees at night and 16–18 degrees of warmth during the day.

According to the report, the city of Tashkent is under the influence of a humid and relatively cool air mass. In the morning hours, fog, high humidity and almost windless weather are observed, which leads to very slow air exchange. As a result, emissions may remain within the city area.

It is also noted that typical urban pollutants are accumulating in the atmosphere. Their main sources are motor vehicles, heating systems, fuel combustion and industrial emissions. Under such conditions, the dispersion of pollutants occurs slowly and an increase in the concentration of dust and fine particulate matter in the air may be observed.

According to specialists, such a situation may persist for the next three days. By March 10, the cold anticyclone will completely cover the country’s territory. As air temperature stabilizes, wind speed increases and precipitation occurs, pollutants in the atmosphere are expected to disperse.
