A new presidential decree has been adopted in Uzbekistan to improve penal legislation and further regulate the punishment system. According to the document, serious changes are being made to the procedure for serving sentences for certain categories of prisoners who are dangerous to society.
In particular, strict restrictions have been set for individuals who have committed serious crimes such as the rape of minors or sexual violence. Now, such criminals will not be transferred to settlement colonies, ensuring their sentences are served under stricter supervision.
Furthermore, the practice of easing detention conditions for those convicted of these crimes is being abolished. They will no longer be eligible for a lighter regime without successfully completing special psychological correction programs. These innovations serve to prevent crime and increase the efficiency of the penal system.
