A cold anticyclone is approaching our country: air quality will worsen for three days

Starting today, a cold anticyclone will begin to enter the territory of our country. Therefore, a deterioration in the quality of atmospheric air is expected. The main danger lies in the fact that there is a high probability of slow air circulation and the formation of temperature inversion: in this case, pollutants do not rise up, but, on the contrary, accumulate in the near-Earth layer of the atmosphere and are "trapped."

Currently, meteorological conditions are observed in the region that increase temperature inversion. This is primarily due to a sharp temperature difference of +5...+7 degrees at night and +16...+18 degrees during the day. The city of Tashkent remains under the influence of a humid and relatively cool air mass. Fog, high humidity, and practically windless weather are observed in the morning hours. Such a "quiet" situation significantly slows down air exchange - as a result, waste and smoke can persist longer in the city.

Under these conditions, typical urban pollutants accumulate. Their main sources are known to everyone: vehicle emissions, heating systems, fuel combustion processes, and industrial waste. With low air movement, the diffusion of these substances becomes difficult, and the probability of increasing the concentration of dust and fine dispersed particles (such as fine "sand-dust") in the air increases. Therefore, on some days, the sky may appear cloudy, breathing difficulties, or smells may be noticeable.

Experts note that this situation is likely to persist for the next three days. By March 10, a cold anticyclone is expected to cover the entire territory of our country. Then the situation may gradually soften: due to the stabilization of air temperature, an increase in wind speed, and the observation of precipitation, the spread of pollutants in the atmospheric air, that is, the "opening" of the air, is expected.

In short, the few days ahead are a "test" period for the weather. However, after around March 10, the situation may ease due to wind and precipitation.
