How many workers died on the job in Uzbekistan in three months

In Uzbekistan, during the first quarter of 2026, 62 individuals lost their lives due to workplace accidents, according to official reports. Over this three-month period, a total of 198 incidents related to labor activities were recorded, with 139 resulting in serious consequences and 49 leading to fatalities. The highest number of accidents occurred in Tashkent city, followed by Surkhandarya and Tashkent regions. Experts emphasize the need for strict adherence to safety regulations and enhanced monitoring at workplaces to prevent such incidents.
In the first quarter of 2026, dozens of people died in Uzbekistan as a result of accidents related to labor activities. According to official data, 62 citizens lost their lives due to unfortunate incidents occurring at the workplace during these three months.
According to the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment, a total of 198 production-related accidents were recorded during the reporting period. Of these, 9 were of a group nature, 139 resulted in severe consequences, and 49 ended in death.
A total of 223 individuals were affected by these incidents. Of these, 146 sustained serious injuries, 15 were limited to minor injuries, and 62 died.
When analyzed by region, the highest number of accidents was recorded in Tashkent city — 44 cases. Additionally, 36 cases were identified in Surxondaryo region and 29 cases in Toshkent region. These were followed by Navoiy region (18), Buxoro region (16), and Andijon region (15).
Furthermore, 13 incidents each were observed in Sirdaryo region and Samarqand region, while 10 incidents each occurred in the Republic of Qoraqalpog‘iston, Farg‘ona region, and Qashqadaryo region. The lowest indicators were in Xorazm region and Jizzax region — 5 cases each.
By sector, the highest number of accidents occurred in the industrial sector — 71. While 54 cases were recorded in the construction sector, 9 incidents were identified in agriculture and water management, and 8 each in the transport and trade and services sectors. Additionally, 6 accidents took place in the education system and 4 in the healthcare sector.
Experts emphasize the necessity of strict adherence to labor safety rules, strengthening control at workplaces, and increasing employees' knowledge of safety techniques to prevent such incidents.
