Uzbekistan found to have high marriage stability

According to the results of 2025, it was noted that the stability of marriage institutions in Uzbekistan remains at a high level. According to data released by the "Family and Gender" Research Institute, the marriage stability coefficient in the country stood at 175.6 per mille.
This figure indicates that there are an average of 175 divorces for every 1,000 marriages concluded. Experts emphasize that this indicator is considered low on an international scale, demonstrating that family relations in Uzbekistan are relatively strong.
Comparative data shows that divorce rates are significantly higher in some neighboring and CIS countries. Specifically, figures of 642.7 were recorded in Moldova, 431.9 in Azerbaijan, 328.2 in Kazakhstan, and 289.6 per mille in Kyrgyzstan. This situation confirms that the stability of family relations in Uzbekistan is relatively higher.
When analyzed by region, marriage stability remains at a high level in Qashqadaryo, Surxondaryo, and Xorazm regions. It is observed that the number of divorces in these areas is lower compared to other regions and cities.
At the same time, relatively higher divorce rates were recorded in Tashkent city, Sirdaryo, and Toshkent regions. Experts attribute this situation to urbanization processes, social pressure, and changes in lifestyle.
“Analysis shows that the divorce rate in our country is lower compared to many states, which signifies that family values are still a priority in society,” the institute's report states.
Overall, statistical data indicates that the institution of marriage in Uzbekistan continues to be maintained as a stable social structure.
