A meeting between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Andrej Babiš at the Kuksaroy residence has opened a new chapter in strategic relations between the two nations. During the negotiations held in both narrow and expanded formats, issues of bringing mutually beneficial practical cooperation to a qualitatively new level were discussed in detail.

Zamin.uz presents the most significant agreements and prospective plans of this historic visit.

Economic Growth: The 1 Billion Dollar Target

The acceleration of trade and economic ties was at the center of the negotiations. It was noted that the volume of trade turnover between the countries has nearly doubled in recent years.

  • Joint Ventures: Today, 37 enterprises with the participation of Czech capital are successfully operating in our country.

  • Diversification: Reaching a trade turnover of $1 billion through the expansion of product varieties was set as a priority task.

  • Financial Support: The Czech Export Bank and the Export Guarantee and Insurance Corporation expressed readiness to provide financial support for major projects in Uzbekistan.

Innovation and Technological Cooperation

The parties agreed to implement large-scale projects in high-tech sectors of the economy. In this regard, a special Technological Cooperation Program will be developed.

  • Sectors: Joint initiatives in mechanical engineering, "green" energy, geology, chemistry, and pharmaceuticals will be supported.

  • Certification: Uzbekistan's first certification branch will open in the Czech Republic. Additionally, a modern laboratory for the certification of "Euro-6" standard vehicles and quantum standards will be established.

  • Infrastructure: Experience will be exchanged in the fields of "smart" city construction, engineering, and the digitalization of the economy.

Social and Cultural Ties: New Opportunities

The negotiations focused not only on the economy but also on human-oriented issues.

  • Education and Culture: Joint degree programs and student exchanges between higher education institutions will be expanded. Holding regular Culture and Cinema Days will become a tradition.

  • Air Travel: Opportunities to restore direct flights between the capitals of the two countries — Tashkent and Prague — will be explored.

  • Migration: Prospects for establishing safe and systematic cooperation in the field of organized labor migration were discussed.

Future Steps

A Business Council will be established to systematically manage economic relations. Furthermore, the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission is scheduled to be held in Tashkent this August. At the conclusion of the negotiations, a joint "road map" encompassing all agreements will be prepared.

Dear readers, in your opinion, how much will the restoration of direct flights between Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic impact the development of tourism and business?
