On May 11, 2026, a specific schedule will apply to the education system in Uzbekistan. On this date, classes in general education schools will be held as usual, but preschool educational institutions will not operate. The Ministry of Preschool and School Education issued an official statement regarding this.
It is reported that this procedure was introduced in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated December 24, 2025, 'On establishing additional non-working days and transferring rest days during the celebration of official dates in 2026'.
According to this document, May 9 – Day of Remembrance and Honor falls on a Saturday in 2026. For organizations operating on a five-day work week, this day off has been moved to the next working day, i.e., Monday, May 11.
Nevertheless, there are some specific exceptions in the education system. In particular:
- On May 11, 2026, the educational process in general education schools will continue;
- Classes scheduled for this specific day will be conducted;
- For primary school students, this day will be free from classes.
At the same time, since May 11 is designated as an official holiday for state preschool educational organizations, kindergarten operations will be temporarily suspended.
Officials also reminded that in non-state educational institutions, working and rest days are determined independently based on their internal regulations.
Since this decision may cause inconvenience for some parents, experts recommend paying special attention to the upbringing and supervision of children.
