Will a 500,000 sum banknote be issued in Uzbekistan?

Reports circulating on social media regarding the issuance of a new 500,000 sum banknote by the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan have sparked widespread discussion. However, the Central Bank has stated that this information is untrue. It is emphasized that such reports have no official basis and the issue of issuing a new banknote is not currently on the agenda.
It is reported that, in accordance with Article 40 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan", the right to put banknotes and coins into circulation within the country belongs exclusively to the Central Bank. Furthermore, new banknotes can only be issued after the relevant decision is approved by the Council of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Only then will official information regarding the appearance of the new banknote and its introduction into circulation be announced through mass media.
