Dubai Police has formed a 16-member all-female rescue team for the first time, Gulf News reported.

They work for the Department of Transport and Rescue. This is the first all-female rescue team in the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East. The team was created to meet the needs of women and children in emergency situations. The team is trained in traffic accidents, fires, search and rescue operations, and emotional support for women victims.

Before joining the team, the girls spent 6 months at the police academy, studying military and rescue training, physical training, and special rescue techniques. They graduated in September 2024.

The training included skills in climbing and descending with the help of ropes, working with special equipment equipped with a patrol car. All women have driver's licenses. They aim to respond to emergencies in less than 7 minutes.

The women also respond to calls for fires, locked doors, malfunctioning elevators, search and rescue operations and disasters.
