China and Russia plan to build a nuclear power plant on the Moon
According to the preliminary project of the International Lunar Research Station, which is being organized by China and Russia, it is planned to build a nuclear power plant on the surface of the Moon. This was officially reported by Pei Zhaoyu, chief engineer of the Chinese Chang'e-8 space mission.

China's national space program plans to carry out the Chang'e-8 mission in 2028 using the Long March 5 rocket. This mission will lay the foundation for the first base for human habitation at the south pole of the Moon.

The project will consist of two major stages. In the first stage, robotic equipment, a rover and special modules will be sent to the Moon. Their task is to study the resources and relief of the lunar surface in depth and collect the data necessary for building a base. The second stage involves an even more important task: in 2030, two Chinese astronauts will be sent to the Moon aboard the Mengzhou and Lanyue spacecraft. They will begin work on creating conditions suitable for human habitation and building a base.

Another important innovation in the project is the installation of large-scale solar cells in addition to the nuclear power plant. This will be necessary for the station to be supplied with regular electricity.

China intends to involve 50 countries, more than 500 research institutions around the world, and about 5,000 international scientists in this large-scale space research project in the future. Thus, the International Lunar Research Station will become a truly international scientific center.

It is worth noting that the United States is also working on serious projects in the field of lunar research. NASA's Artemis program is scheduled to land American astronauts on the Moon in 2025, with plans to build a permanent base there in the future.

Thus, the development of the Moon for humanity is reaching a new stage, and China and Russia may play a leading role in this process.
