Trump demanded that Zelensky sign a deal on rare earth resources "immediately"

Former US President and politician who recently returned to the political spotlight, Donald Trump, addressed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In it, Trump acknowledged that the agreement documents on rare earth elements between Ukraine and the US have not yet been signed, and emphasized that they should be signed “immediately.”

More than three weeks of delay — Trump is unhappy

According to Trump:
“Ukraine under Zelensky has not yet formalized a very important rare earth resources agreement with the US. This document has been delayed for at least three weeks. I hope it will be signed soon.”

The importance of the agreement is due to its geopolitical significance, in addition to economic cooperation. In particular, rare elements are considered a strategic resource in the fields of modern technology, defense industry and energy.

Peace talks between Russia and Ukraine “are moving along”

Trump also noted:
“Work on a comprehensive peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine is progressing smoothly. The important thing is that we can have success in the future.”

These words, of course, indicate that peace initiatives are on track. However, the main focus is currently on economic documents.

Memorandum signed, deadline approaching

Also, according to sources, discussions on an agreement based on the memorandum signed last week should be completed by April 26.

This is one of the important dates for both Ukraine and the United States. Because this agreement is important not only from the point of view of maintaining economic ties, but also from the point of view of maintaining Washington’s trust in Kiev.

Rare earth resources are at the center of geopolitical struggle

As is known, the bulk of the world’s reserves of rare earth elements are located in China. The US and Western countries aim to create an independent supply chain in this regard. Ukraine's mineral resources are an important link in this project.
