Kim Jong Un and Putin to attend China’s military parade
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will attend a major military parade in Beijing next week together with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This will be Kim’s first multilateral international meeting and is seen as an important diplomatic success for China’s leader Xi Jinping.

The parade will mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War Two. China is expected to showcase hundreds of aircraft, tanks and new military technologies. The event will take place at the historic Tiananmen Square, with tens of thousands of soldiers participating.

Alongside the leaders of Russia and North Korea, another 26 heads of state are expected to attend the ceremony. This will be the first time since 1959 that a North Korean leader takes part in a Chinese parade.

Western countries will not attend the parade, as they continue to condemn Russia’s war in Ukraine. At the same time, Kim Jong Un’s supply of weapons and troops to Russia is also being strongly criticised in the West.

According to experts, this meeting will give Xi Jinping additional strength in international politics. Kim Jong Un, meanwhile, seeks to maintain a balance between China and Russia. At the same time, there is speculation about a possible visit to Asia by US President Donald Trump.
