An unexpected incident occurred in the Thai city of Lopburi. Recently, local residents witnessed more than 100 animals escaping from the monkey shelter. Suddenly, a swarm of monkeys rushed out into the street, causing fear and astonishment among the inhabitants. Like hooligans, they prowled the streets, tried to break into houses, and even created chaos around the police station.
Soon, the monkeys also damaged parked cars and made their way to some buildings. This forced nearby police officers to call them to order.
After the incident, Lopburi officials, together with the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Protection, took action. With the help of special weapons and methods, it was possible to frighten the monkeys and return them to the shelter. However, some animals remained free until nightfall.
Officials are currently investigating the cause of the unrest. It has not yet been determined whether the monkeys opened the cages by shaking them themselves or whether human hands were involved. At the same time, shelter staff began repairing damaged cages and strengthening possible escape routes to prevent such a situation from happening again.
This event in Lopburi attracted the attention of not only local residents, but also the media of the entire country. Because Thai wild monkeys are considered one of the symbols of tourism, but their loss of control can pose a serious threat.
