The US canceled Colombian President Gustavo Petro’s visa. This happened after Petro called on US soldiers not to obey Donald Trump’s orders. The State Department described his remarks as “dangerous and provocative.”
Petro was in the US for a UN meeting and in those days demanded an investigation into attacks against drug trafficking ships in the Caribbean, conducted by the Trump administration.
In his speech, Petro called on US soldiers not to turn weapons against humanity and urged them “not to obey Trump’s orders.” The US criticized these words as “calling on soldiers to disobey orders and inciting violence.”
Petro’s relations with the US have become tense in recent months. The Colombian leader criticized the US’s anti-drug actions in his speech at the UN.
