For the first time in Japanese history, a female prime minister:
It is expected that Sanae Takaiti, chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party, will be appointed Prime Minister in the new elections. If this is confirmed, she will be the first female prime minister in Japanese history. Takaiti's candidacy is supported by the majority in parliament, which almost guarantees his election.
