The Lithuanian government has decided to close all border crossing points between the two countries by 12:00 PM on October 25th due to the launch of balloons carrying illegal cargo from Belarusian territory. Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginene made an official statement.

On October 24th, around 8:30 PM local time, hot air balloons were detected flying towards Vilnius and Kaunas airports, and flights were temporarily suspended for safety reasons. The airport administration stated that the situation was short-lived, and flights were resumed soon.

According to reports, this is the third incident involving balloons launched from Belarus towards Lithuania in the last month. Officials assess such actions as a threat to state security and declare that necessary measures will be taken.
