Court proceedings have begun against individuals who spread unfounded rumors online about Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron.
According to the details of the case, 10 people - 8 men and 2 women - are accused of spreading false information on social networks, identifying Brigitte Macron as a "man." They are between 41 and 65 years old.
According to the prosecutor's office, these individuals not only slandered, but also insulted the president's family by discussing the 24-year gap between them.
Brigitte Macron (72 years old) chose not to participate in the trial. Her lawyer confirmed this decision at the court hearing and stated that Bridget does not plan to participate in further proceedings. Nevertheless, his daughter may testify in subsequent sessions.
The French media called the case "one of the most sensational online defamation campaigns against the family of a political figure in recent years."
