Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects, emphasized the task of increasing the country's population. The head of state acknowledged that the birth rate continues to decline, noting that existing measures in the demographic sphere are insufficient.
Objective factors and concerns
According to Putin, the decline in births is due to a number of objective reasons:
1. Global demographic trends: General demographic changes observed worldwide.
2. Demographic "holes": the overlap of demographic gaps caused by crisis periods (wars, social changes) in the middle and end of the 20th century.
3. External challenges: Geopolitical and other external problems.
At the same time, Putin noted that the sociological indicator for assessing readiness to have children has improved in some regions. These are the republics of Mordovia, Altai, Kabarda-Balkaria, as well as Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.
Priority tasks: Application of motherhood and fatherhood
The President instructed to carefully analyze demographic support measures in the regions and select the most optimal solutions.
Putin identified three main areas of work:
1. Encouraging large families: With each subsequent birth of a baby, this support should become more substantial and more noticeable for the family.
2. Improving the well-being of families: Achieving an increase in the income of Russian families.
3. Support for fatherhood: Consider measures to support not only motherhood, but also fatherhood.
The head of state emphasized that men should participate more actively in family concerns, in decision-making about the birth of children, and devote more time to their upbringing.
Already prepared measures, such as incentive payments and tax benefits, were also announced.
