Eight students of School No. 14 in Baku, Azerbaijan, were poisoned by chewing gum and required medical attention. This was reported by Minwal Politika.
According to the data, students complained of a frightening state during the lesson. The school administration immediately called an ambulance, and the poisoned children were taken to the hospital. The school administration reported the incident to all regulatory bodies and the children's parents.
Preliminary investigations revealed that one student, on his way to school, bought gum from a nearby shop and distributed it to his classmates. After that, the children's condition worsened, and they found themselves in a difficult situation. Currently, an investigation is underway.
A similar situation occurred in Indonesia. In September 2023, schoolchildren were hospitalized after being poisoned by a free lunch provided by the country's president. In the Sipongkor district of West Java province, signs of poisoning were observed in 1,258 children within 3 days.
According to healthcare professionals, the poisoning was caused by improperly prepared foods, especially chicken with soy sauce, fried tofu, and fruits. These foods caused symptoms such as abdominal pain, dizziness, nausea, and shortness of breath in children.
