Off the coast of Papua New Guinea, the Coral Adventurer cruise ship ran aground. The incident happened on its first trip after leaving a passenger behind on an island in late October.
A ship spokesperson confirmed all passengers and crew are safe. Initial inspections showed no serious damage to the ship. Further inspections will take place on Sunday.
An AMSA spokesperson said the ship did not issue a distress call. They are monitoring the situation and are ready to assist Papua New Guinea authorities if needed.
The ship is under investigation after leaving 80-year-old Suzanne Rees on Lizard Island in October. The remaining part of that trip was canceled and passengers were fully refunded. No decision has been made about the current voyage.
