U.S. President Donald Trump issued warnings to other countries after capturing Venezuela’s president. He commented on the move by referring to the Monroe Doctrine and emphasised U.S. leadership in the western hemisphere.
Trump is currently focusing on Greenland. In addition to controlling a military base in the region, he stated that he wants to take control of the entire island from a national security perspective. Greenland is significant due to its strategic location and rich natural resources, particularly rare earth elements.
Greenland’s prime minister described the idea as a “fantasy” and stressed that any future negotiations must take place within the framework of international law. Any attempt by the United States to seize the territory could lead to conflict with other NATO members.
Experts say Trump’s foreign policy ambitions aim to strengthen the U.S. role in the western hemisphere, but such actions could test international diplomacy and security. As a result, Greenland and other strategic regions will remain in the global spotlight.
