Trump threatens Iran with strong measures

Iran said it is maintaining contact with the United States. At the same time, President Donald Trump is considering various actions in response to the government’s violent crackdown on protests in Iran. The protests are regarded as one of the most serious challenges to clerical rule since 1979.
It was reported that messages are being exchanged between Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and the U.S. special envoy. Araqchi said Iran is ready for war but also open to dialogue. At the same time, messages from the U.S. are considered not serious.
The protests have been ongoing since December 28. According to human rights organizations, 490 protesters and 48 security personnel have been killed, and more than 10,600 people have been arrested. The protests initially related to economic hardships have recently turned into resistance against clerical rule.
Possible U.S. responses include diplomatic talks, increased sanctions, and even military actions. At the same time, Iran has said the internal situation is under control, and government supporters have held rallies across the country.
