Trump wants to buy Greenland, Europe opposed

Greenland thanked European countries for standing against Trump’s tariff threats. U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his desire to buy Greenland and said he might impose tariffs on European countries over this issue. European countries decided to protect the independence of Greenland and Denmark.
At Denmark’s request, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and other countries sent military aid to Greenland. After this, Trump said he could impose tariffs on eight European countries. European leaders stressed that such pressure is unacceptable.
Ambassadors of the European Union countries will meet to discuss the tariff issue. Greenland’s minister Naaja Nathanielsen said that in this situation, politeness and courage are needed. She said they are ready to continue cooperation.
Denmark’s foreign minister will visit Oslo, London, and Stockholm in the coming days to discuss the need to strengthen NATO cooperation in the Arctic region. Scandinavian countries also supported Denmark’s position and emphasized that Greenland will remain part of Denmark.
