Unexpected resignation in Kyrgyzstan: Kamchibek Tashiev leaves his post

A major shift in the political elite of Kyrgyzstan: Kamchybek Tashiev, one of the country's most powerful figures and Chairman of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS), has been dismissed from his post. President Sadyr Japarov signed a corresponding decree, terminating the powers of his long-time colleague prematurely.
For the benefit of the state and solidarity
President Japarov explained this decision not just as a personnel exchange, but as a strategic step. The head of state emphasized that this decision was made to prevent any conflicts that may arise in society and between state systems, and most importantly - to preserve national unity.
Who is the new leader?
The responsibility for the temporary performance of the duties of the chairman of the KGB was assigned to Major General Jumgalbek Shabdanbekov. 55-year-old Shabdanbekov is not a stranger to the system - he is an experienced personnel who has been performing important tasks since 2020 as Deputy Chairman of the Committee and Head of the State Security Service.
The end of an inseparable duet?
The political alliance of Kamchybek Tashiev and Sadyr Japarov was seen as the strongest and most stable "duet" in the history of Kyrgyzstan. Their friendship and cooperation began in the political upheavals of the 2010s and was further hardened by the trials in 2012 and the change of power in 2020.
Tashiyev for almost four years:
- He oversaw the most sensational criminal cases in the country;
- The power plant became the main pillar of the system;
- He became the President's closest and most reliable political support.
Rumors & Reality
Recently, there have been various rumors in political circles about Tashiyev's possible participation in the next presidential elections. Although Tashiyev himself repeatedly denied this and stated that he would support Japarov until the end, today's resignation indicates that Kyrgyzstan's political configuration is moving to a new stage.
Is this departure just a rest or a step taken before a bigger political campaign? Time will tell.
How do you think this resignation will affect the internal stability of Kyrgyzstan?
