Former minister of justice of Ukraine Galushchenko arrested

The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine has arrested German Galushchenko, the former Minister of Justice.

This was reported by the RBK-Ukraine agency.

The court ordered the official to be detained for 60 days and detained him in the courtroom for bail of 200 million hryvnias ($4.6 million).

Commenting on the verdict, Galushchenko expressed his disagreement with the decision and his intention to file an appeal.

It should be noted that the former Minister of Energy, who was later appointed Minister of Justice of Ukraine, is accused of laundering funds from Energoatom. The Anti-Corruption Center of Ukraine reported that Galushchenko faces a prison sentence of 7 to 12 years. On February 15, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) reported that the former minister was arrested while attempting to leave Ukraine.
