Search operation in Iran: what is the situation?

Following reports that a US fighter jet was shot down over Iranian territory, Iranian media stated that one of the two crew members who ejected may have landed in the south of the country.

According to US officials speaking to CBS News, the pilot has been rescued, while the missing crew member is the weapons systems officer.

Iranian state-affiliated channels have called on citizens to “capture the pilot alive,” promising a reward.

In one widely circulated report, Iranian media said a reward of approximately $66,100 had been announced.

Shortly afterward, videos began circulating showing armed civilians searching for the missing crew member in southern provinces.

In one unverified video, reportedly filmed in the southern part of Khuzestan Province, several men holding weapons and an Iranian flag can be seen conducting search operations. One of them says: “God willing, we will find him.”
