It is reported that the incident occurred at a plant owned by Viva Energy. For now, officials are treating the incident as an accident. Chris Bowen stated that no intentional arson or other suspicious circumstances were identified during the preliminary investigation.
According to the fire safety services, the fire started in the gasoline storage compartment. It is possible that several explosions occurred in the area following a fuel leak, which caused the fire to spread rapidly.
Although the fire has now been fully extinguished, experts note that its consequences could be serious. In particular, there is a possibility of a decrease in gasoline production due to partial restrictions on the plant's operations.
As a precautionary measure, the enterprise continues to temporarily reduce the production of diesel fuel and aviation kerosene.
