Massive Drone Attack on Moscow Region: Oil Depots Set Ablaze

Overnight into Monday, the Ukrainian side launched a large-scale massive drone strike on the Moscow region. The attack damaged logistics facilities and oil depots in the area, with at least 10 people reported injured. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed these strikes, calling them "long-range sanctions."

Details of the strikes in the Moscow region

According to Russian and Ukrainian sources, including information distributed by the "ASTRA" Telegram channel, an attack was carried out on an oil depot in Podolsk and a warehouse at the "Yuzhniye Vrata" industrial complex in Domodedovo, where a major fire broke out.

• Number of drones: Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin stated that out of approximately 400 Ukrainian drones, 85 were shot down while approaching the city, while the rest were intercepted far from the Russian capital.

• Casualties: Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov reported that 10 people, including one child, were injured as a result of the attack. Several residential buildings and civilian infrastructure were damaged.

• Marketplace warehouses: It was reported that a Wildberries warehouse in the Podolsk district was also attacked, but the company's management stated that the logistics center is operating as usual following the attack.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy openly confirmed the strikes on the Moscow region on social media and signaled increased pressure on economic facilities:

“Moscow region. There are results from our long-range sanctions on logistics facilities and an oil depot. We provide a fair response to every strike Russia has made on our cities and communities. This war must end, and this is only possible by increasing pressure on Russia, the sole cause of the war.”

Zelenskyy also announced that strikes were carried out on two Russian "shadow fleet" tankers and four dry cargo ships in the Black Sea.

Escalation of the missile and drone war

In recent days, the scale of reciprocal strikes between the two sides has expanded significantly:

• Overnight into Saturday: Ukraine struck two major Wildberries warehouses in central Russia (Tambov region, where 7 people died, and Elektrostal near Moscow) as well as an oil depot in Noginsk.

• Ballistic attack on Kyiv: The day before, Russia launched a large-scale ballistic missile strike on Kyiv: 1 person died, 16 were injured.

• First aerial bomb on Pavlohrad: For the first time, Russia struck the city of Pavlohrad in the Dnipropetrovsk region with an aerial bomb. As a result, 2 people died and 15 were injured.

• ISW analysis: Experts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) note that in July, Russia is launching more ballistic missiles at Ukraine than it produces monthly, actively depleting its reserves.

Internal political crisis in Ukraine

Amidst intensifying military operations, a complex political situation has emerged within Ukraine.

Following the dismissal of Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, the Zelenskyy government faced public discontent and protests regarding changes in the high command. President Zelenskyy announced he would hold "key negotiations" in the Cabinet of Ministers to resolve the internal political crisis.
