
Volkswagen has officially launched production of the budget-friendly Volkswagen Tera crossover, based on the Polo model, Auto.Mail.ru reports. This vehicle is aimed at emerging markets and follows the format of the Renault Sandero Stepway.

SUV-style body, front-wheel drive, and semi-independent rear suspension
1.0-liter turbocharged engine (116 HP)
6-speed automatic transmission
Base price – 100,000 Brazilian reais ($17,200)
Top version – 140,000 reais ($24,000)
Production has begun at Volkswagen’s Taubaté plant in Brazil. The first units will go on sale in spring 2025, with expansion to Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Uruguay by the end of the year. Later, it may also be introduced in Mexico and Africa.
Volkswagen has not yet revealed details about the base models, but reports suggest that a version with a naturally aspirated engine and manual transmission will also be available.
