Uzbekistan temporarily suspends import of Leapmotor cars
The certification process for passenger cars of the Leapmotor brand has been temporarily suspended in Uzbekistan. This was stated in an official statement issued by the Agency for Technical Regulation.

🔹 Why was the import of Leapmotor cars restricted?

According to the information provided by the agency, a technical non-conformity was detected in the Leapmotor C16 model. As a result of inspections conducted by EURO PROF TEST LLC, it was revealed that this car does not meet the requirements of the regulations.

In particular, it was noted that it does not meet the requirements set out in paragraph 44 of Annex 3 to the regulations. This can lead to problems in the car's electronic system and, in some cases, failure of the relevant systems.

🔹 Consumer Protection Measures

Due to the identified shortcomings, the acceptance of applications for certification of Leapmotor cars has been temporarily suspended. This restriction will be in effect until the manufacturer fully eliminates the problems.

🔹 Queues are growing in the laboratory for imported cars

According to reports, the demand for the certification process for cars imported into Uzbekistan is currently very high. The queues for the laboratory in the Piskent district, which conducts vehicle inspections, are growing.

According to customs bloggers, the electronic queue system opens at 00:00 at night and the places are filled in less than a minute.

🔹 Can we expect Leapmotor cars to return to the market?

It is currently unknown when Leapmotor cars will be re-certified and put on sale in Uzbekistan. The main factor in this will depend on how quickly the company eliminates the identified problems.

This situation is important for the competition and compliance with safety standards in the imported car market in Uzbekistan.

What are your thoughts? How will the restriction on the import of Leapmotor cars affect the market?
