In January-August 2025, about 29 thousand electric vehicles were imported into Uzbekistan. This figure is twice as high as last year, indicating significant growth in the electric vehicle market. This was reported by customs.uz, citing data from the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan.
It was reported that a total of 42,230 passenger cars were imported into the country during this period. The total amount of funds paid for them amounted to 640.7 million US dollars. For comparison, in the same period of 2024, 47,928 cars were imported and $914.7 million was spent.
The growth rate in the import of electric vehicles is especially high. In the first eight months of 2025, 28 thousand 948 electric cars were imported, which is almost twice as much as in 2024 - 12 thousand 907 units. Financial expenditures have also increased significantly: in 2024, $166.7 million was spent, and in 2025 this figure is $358.9 million.
Against the backdrop of such growth, imports of gasoline and cars with hybrid engines showed a decrease. $233.6 million was spent on 11,166 gasoline-powered vehicles. For comparison, in 2024 this figure was 24,995 units and $541.1 million. Hybrid car imports also decreased significantly: in 2025, 2,025 hybrids were imported, generating $46.1 million in revenue. This is significantly less than last year's imports of 10,017 units and $192.8 million.
At the same time, there is a slight increase in imports of diesel-powered cars. During 2025, 91 diesel-powered cars were imported, for which $2.1 million was spent. For comparison, in the corresponding period of 2024, only 9 diesel cars were imported.
