Tesla to present Roadster model that accelerates in 1.1 seconds

"Tesla" CEO Elon Musk has shared unexpected details about the new generation of the "Roadster" model. At the quarterly reporting conference on 22 April 2026, Musk noted that this electric vehicle will be the company's last manually controlled car, meaning with a steering wheel. In the future, all models produced are planned to be switched to fully autonomous control. Ixbt.com reports this.
The new "Roadster" is expected to have technically impressive characteristics. This car, equipped with "SpaceX" rocket technology, will be able to accelerate to 100 km/h in just 1.1 seconds. In earlier interviews, Musk had even spoken of an intention to make the car hover in the air. At present, engineers are working on safety measures.
Despite long delays in the project, its presentation may take place within the next month. The starting price of the car is set at 200,000 dollars, while for the special "Founders Series" a full deposit of 250,000 dollars is required. Some customers made this payment back in 2017 and have been waiting for their cars for almost ten years.
According to the company's plans, mass production of the "Roadster" model will not begin before 2027 or 2028. This project remains the most complex and the longest development in "Tesla" history. Specialists are currently conducting many tests and checks to ensure that no problems arise during the presentation.
