Uzbekistan to adopt national cancer control plan
Uzbekistan has approved the zero draft of the National Cancer Control Strategy for 2025–2035, and a related Action Plan is being developed, Nova24.uz reported, citing the WHO country office.

The work is being carried out under the initiative “Support for the Development of Oncology Services in the Republic of Uzbekistan, Phase II” with the participation of the Islamic Development Bank.

According to WHO data, over 100,000 people in Uzbekistan live with a cancer diagnosis. More than 20,000 new cases are identified annually.

Many of these cases could be prevented or cured if detected early and treated effectively. However, this requires a systemic approach. Therefore, each goal and action in the upcoming plan has been carefully discussed — from equipment and staff to cultural barriers and public trust.
