Next batch of hepatitis C medicine delivered from Egypt to Tashkent
Friendly cooperation between Uzbekistan and Egypt continues to strengthen not only in political and economic fields but also in the area of healthcare. As part of this year’s next humanitarian aid, the Egyptian government has delivered the fourth batch of “Sofosbuvir-400 mg” medicine to Tashkent.

It is reported that this batch consists of 32 boxes, totaling 7680 tablets. The medical aid was transported from Sharm el-Sheikh to Tashkent by Uzbekistan Airways.

This batch is part of the implementation of the national program aimed at eliminating hepatitis C in Uzbekistan by 2030. The medicines received will be distributed free of charge to patients in need by the Research Institute of Virology under the Ministry of Health.

According to the Uzbek Embassy in Egypt, during 2023–2024 the Cairo government delivered 27 batches of “Sofosbuvir” and “Daclatasvir” medicines weighing a total of 12.4 tons to our country. It is noted that the total value of this aid amounts to 1.4 million US dollars.

International cooperation plays an important role in the fight against hepatitis C in our country, and such initiatives open a door of hope for thousands of patients.
