Causes of bad breath

Halitosis is an unpleasant odor of breathing, and this condition causes serious discomfort for many people. It can also negatively affect a person's personal life, work environment, and social relations.

The most common cause of this problem is insufficient attention to oral hygiene. Food particles and bacteria that remain between the teeth cause an unpleasant odor.

Dental diseases - periodontitis, gingivitis, and caries - can also cause halitosis. Bacteria accumulated on the surface of the tongue also serve as a source of halitosis.

In some cases, halitosis can be associated with internal organs - liver, kidneys, or digestive system.

Dry mouth (xerostomy) also causes halitosis. Because a decrease in saliva weakens the function of cleansing bacteria and creates a dry environment in the mouth.

To overcome this condition, it is recommended to regularly brush your teeth, wipe your tongue daily, increase your water intake, and consult a doctor if necessary.
