In Navoi, a truck driver killed his ex-wife and her parents

In Navoi region, a man who deliberately ran over his ex-wife and her parents with a truck has been sentenced to life imprisonment. The verdict was issued by the Tomdi district court for criminal cases.

Reportedly, 41-year-old S. R.

was a HOWO truck driver involved in delivering water for livestock. He committed this grave crime as a result of family disputes.

The family disputes arose after S. R. officially divorced his ex-wife, G.

E., in April 2021.

They had shared a house belonging to G. E. in the village of Sharq, Tomdi district.

According to the decision of the Zarafshan inter-district civil court on December 20, 2024, S. R.

was to be forcibly evicted from this residence. To enforce the decision, a case had been initiated by the city division of the Compulsory Enforcement Bureau (MIB).

The tragic incident took place on March 17 of this year. When MIB officers arrived at the scene to carry out the eviction, S.

R. was there along with his ex-wife and her parents. According to the data, while driving the HOWO truck, S.

R. deliberately ran over his ex-wife, and then her mother and father.

One of the MIB officers present at the scene described S. R.'s actions in detail.

According to him, the white truck stopped about 15–20 meters away, the driver looked at the gathered people, and started driving the vehicle towards his ex-wife. First, he pinned his ex-wife against a wall, then turned the steering wheel to hit her mother and ran over her.

S. R.

continued his actions, turning the truck around and running over the woman lying on the ground again. After that, he struck his ex-wife’s father, who had rushed to help.

After committing the crime, S. R.

got out of the truck and stabbed G. E. twice with a knife.

He then attempted to attack the MIB officers, but they had to retreat for self-defense. Eventually, S.

R. dropped the knife, got into the truck, and fled the scene.

As a result, the ex-wife and her parents died due to severe injuries. According to the Navoi regional court for criminal cases, S.

R. was found guilty under several serious articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, including "murder under aggravating circumstances" (Article 97, part 2, paragraphs "a, v, d, j") and "resisting a government representative" (Article 219, part 2).

He was sentenced to life imprisonment in a special regime colony. On October 28 of this year, the appellate instance of the Navoi regional court for criminal cases upheld the verdict without changes.
