According to the press service of the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office, the spread of low-quality medicines and medical products has been prevented. During a rapid operation carried out by employees of the Department’s Kokand city branch in cooperation with officers of the State Security Service, it was discovered that medicines had been illegally brought into the country and were being stored.
During the operation, it was found that one of the citizens was storing illegal medicines in the territory of "A.Ikromov" and "Saodat" MCAs. As a result, 2,411 boxes of medicines and medical products of 11 types with a total value of 163.6 million soums were confiscated.
None of the seized medicines and products had documents confirming their quality and origin. Criminal proceedings have been initiated under the article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan for "Manufacturing, purchasing, storing, transporting, or selling substandard or counterfeit medicines and medical products, as well as selling medicines outside of pharmacies and their branches, and violating the procedure for selling prescription medicines."
