Electronic prescriptions will not be canceled: on the contrary, the system is expanding

The Ministry of Health has officially commented on rumors circulating on social media regarding the cancellation of electronic prescriptions. The agency stated that there are no plans to discontinue this system; on the contrary, it is intended to further develop and expand its coverage.

According to the Ministry, the reports were caused by a misinterpretation of a new draft order. In reality, the document is aimed at expanding the capabilities of the electronic prescription system rather than canceling it.

In accordance with the new initiative, while electronic prescriptions were previously mandatory only for antibiotics and hormonal drugs, there are now plans to gradually transition all prescription-based medications to an electronic format. This will serve to digitize medical services and increase transparency.

The system will first be implemented in medical institutions and pharmacies in Tashkent, as well as in 15 pilot districts. This will allow the new mechanism to be tested, with the possibility of subsequent implementation across the entire republic.

At the same time, certain medications will be exempt from this system. Specifically, a separate procedure will remain in place for potent, narcotic, and psychotropic substances, as well as for preparations included in the state reimbursement program.

According to experts, the expansion of the electronic prescription system will strengthen control over drug circulation, reduce instances of falsification, and make the patient service process more convenient.

In short, this update is not a cancellation, but rather a move to take the system to a new level. Now the question is: are you ready for digital medicine?
